The Swedish Navy bought nine of these helicopters from 1958 onwards. A further five of the same type were bought second-hand from New York Airways in 1962, and 2 of these served in the RSwAF between 1962 and 1964 as a stopgap until delivery of the subsequent Vertol 107, which became Hkp 4.
This helicopter, 01, was used by the Navy No. 1 Helicopter Squadron until 1971, and on retirement had flown 3,094 hours 30 minutes, with the engine changed 14 times. It was flown to Malmen, the Museum airfield, on 29 June 1971.
Used for Search and Rescue, Anti-submarine Warfare and Transport.
