No: 10261   Contributor: Klaus Girk   Year: 1994   Manufacturer: Heinkel   Country: USA

Heinkel 111 one of Luftwaffes mainstay bombers during WWII. This particular model was owned by the Commerative Air Force in Arizona and was Generalissimo Francos personal aircraft. The plane was given to the dictator by Adolf Hitler in hopes of drawing Spain into WWII as a partner to the Axis Powers. This version was the only version which seated the pilot and co-pilot side by side. Photo circa 1994 and scanned from original 35mm. This plane crashed near Laramie Wyoming some years back killing the pilot and passenger.
