Yves Gardan worked for the Service Technique Aéronautique from 1945 to 1947, before joining SIPA (Société Industrielle Pour l'Aéronautique) as an aircraft designer. in 1949, Gardan decides to open his own company, the Constructions Aéronautiques du Béarn based at Pau, which produced the Minicab 2-seater. He designed several of France's most popular light aircraft between 1945 and 1962, most notably the Horizon of 1960. Having designed aircraft that were produced by much larger companies, his own company is now engaged in subcontracting. He is however an active member of the Association des Propriétaires d'Avion GARDAN (APAG), a Gardan aircraft owners association.
