The Central Finland Aviation Museum was relocated in 1989 to a disused former construction plant at Tikkakoski from Hangar 1 of Luonetjärvi Air Force Base, where the Museum had been located since 1979. The Finnish Air Force Signals Museum collection, which had previously been in an off-limits area, also became accessible to the public at Tikkakoski after merging with the Central Finland Aviation Museum in 1989.
There is a small restoration facility now at Tikkakoski which can handle one aircraft at a time, e.g. in 2012 a Hawker Hurricane which had been stored ar Päijät-Hämeen, the Päijät-Häme aviation "museum", actually a storage facility at Lahti-Vesivehmaan.
